SAHAJ GROUP ROMANIA
We are a musical group from Romania, with the purpose to spread the beauty and spirituality.
Specialization in Indian classical music, at the “Late P. K. Salve” Academy of Music and Fine Arts in Nagpur, India, was possible thanks to the scholarships offered by Mrs. Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi – the Founder of Sahaja Yoga.
Shri Mataji was not only their mentor in the realm of spirituality, but also a generous sponsor of the group’s tours outside the country.
Since 1994, the group has held concerts and participated in various festivals and artistic events in the country and abroad.

ABOUT MUSIC
Indian classical music
It is one of the most refined arts in India, having a millennial tradition and a deep sacred character.
It has its beginnings in the early Vedic period, thousands of years before Christ. The Vedas were recited and chanted in Sanskrit, and the Sama Veda is entirely devoted to the music and description of the various instruments existing at that time.
According to Indian tradition, music arose with the creation of the universe, from the primordial sound Aum, Naad or “Word”, which gives it the status of a universal language with a divine dimension.
Beyond the elaborate system of modes and improvisations, the distinctiveness of Indian classical music lies in the divine dimension attributed to it.
Indian music is considered to be a path to knowledge of self and God, a sadhana (meditation) to what Indians call Moksha or “Liberation”.
Melodies and rhythms are how the artist sustains and carries out the dialogue with the Divinity, taking the audience to new dimensions of this communication that has become an act of worship.

Shri Mataji’s quotes about Indian classical music and musicians:
“Music was born out of God’s love for us and is meant to worship God. This Indian music will one day unite the world… if its pure spirit is preserved.”
“Authentic music pours out waves of vibrations. The art we should appreciate is the art that gives vibrations.”
“Artists are the most wonderful flowers of creation, the sweetest dreams of the Creator and the most precious component of society.”
